Project Overview
In my final year of high school (2016), I embarked on my very first movie poster project as part of a design class. This passion project involved creating a series of 12 minimalist movie posters, marking the beginning of my journey into alternative and fan-made poster design. The films chosen were a mix of personal favourites, recent releases, and popular titles at the time.

Design Concept
 Theme: Minimalist Design
• Film Selection: Personal favourites, recent releases, and popular titles.
Consistency: Consistent typography and colour palette across all posters, maintaining a cohesive look and feel.

Execution
• Design Elements: Each poster featured minimalist elements, focusing on simplicity and clarity. The use of clean lines, simple shapes, and limited colour schemes defined the aesthetic.
• Typography: A consistent typographic style was used across all posters, contributing to the cohesive look of the series.
• Colour Palette: A unified colour palette was chosen to ensure harmony between the different posters, enhancing the visual consistency.

Reflection
This project was a significant milestone in my design journey. While some designs were basic and less refined, it was a valuable learning experience that laid the foundation for my future work in movie poster design. Looking back, I am particularly proud of the consistency in design and style, which has been a guiding principle in my subsequent projects.

Showcase
The posters were printed and displayed around the school during an art showcase, allowing me to share my work with peers and receive valuable feedback. This experience not only boosted my confidence but also ignited my passion for creating alternative movie posters.

Conclusion
My high school minimalist movie poster series was a pivotal project that sparked my interest in alternative and fan-made poster design. It provided a platform to explore minimalist design principles and develop a consistent style, setting the stage for my future endeavours in the world of graphic design.

I've created a ton of alternative movie posters. If you're interested in seeing my full catalogue of the posters I've designed over the years, feel free to check them out on my PosterSpy page, by clicking the button below.
